Deep in the Autumnal garden our eyes did spy a creature so magnificent we shed a single tear of joy.

Such an exquisite creature! Our breath was stolen from our very lungs.

And lo! It held in its arms a miniscule companion... a friend or perhaps a little lover.

Un petit amoureux!

They knew not that they were watched, so completely absorbed in each others tender gaze they were.

We shall leave them there, insulating themselves from Autumns chill beneath a blanket of affection.

We've really changed...

On February 7, 2008,  Softlife brought you the first glimpse of the hidden realm of creatures. From that day forward we have diligently investigated the creatures of this world and beyond and have faithfully reported our findings to you on an almost daily basis. It has been our pain and pleasure to do so. Times, however, have changed. In these turbulent days of economic collapse, we have been forced to moonlight, beg, borrow, and maybe even steal to make ends meet, all of which takes time and a grudging effort on our part. We are filled with regret and sadness, but the fact remains: we have been forced to scale back our investigations to one measly creature exposé a week until the winds of prosperity once again blow the sweat from our weary brow and we can devote ourselves full time to our true calling. Here's to happier times, may they be swift and sweet.

Sometimes several cold ones are needed to get the solutions flowing. It looks like this is one of those times... but what's the big problem?




Oh, we should have known! This poor hellion is having real trouble coming up with the perfect Halloween costume, no trifling matter to be sure. Halloween is much like fashion week for monsters, the competition is fierce and the pressure is enormous. What's a poor uninspired beast to do?




Wait a minute, it looks like our little beast has an idea!




An elephant! How very original!

Polly is getting ready for her favorite holiday, which happens to be Halloween. She has been decorating her home all day.



Her mind now begins to turn towards the most important part of this fantastic holiday... the costume! What shall she be this year? This is no small matter, and Polly must summon all her creative powers in order to dream up the perfect costume.



She sits before her supplies and calls out to the Halloween muse with her mind.



At last the muse has spoken, and Polly knows just how to proceed. She grabs her scissors and gets down to business!




Oh boy! This is going to be good!



She slips on the final product...




And voila! Polly is transformed into a frightfully hideous beast!

It is perfection.

This naughty little bunny has been left alone all by herself. What were her parents thinking?




As soon as she is sure the coast is clear, she get's down to business! There are many, many forbidden things to play with and she has waited so long for this opportunity. There is the saw!

Something is lurking in the darkening Autumnal forest...

Hmmm... not quite the specter we were imagining, but let's see what this 

limp-beaked creature is up to anyway, shall we?

Shhh, we musn't let him know we are observing him.

It looks as though he is about to gorge himself on the cornucopia of autumns bounty, if we are not mistaken.

We were most certainly not mistaken... this poor creature now appears to be fuller than the moon on a full moon night... fuller than a glass that is half empty... fuller than the Oxford English Dictionary. He is plenty full, see?

And thus the creature slips away into the womb of the forest, where he will dream restless dreams until he is awakened by the siren hunger once again.

We at Softlife have been fighting the soft fight for 236 days now. We have devoted ourselves tirelessly to the often hazardous task of investigating the secret hidden lives of creatures of every persuasion. We have climbed to the mountain tops, we have crawled on our bellies through the putrid mud, we have scoured the urine soaked alleyways, we have held our breath for minutes at a time as we scooted across the the ocean floor. We are exhausted. We are fatigued. We have other things to do. Still, we will continue to carry on, for your sake and the sake of countless others like you.
